iPod Touch

January 21, 2008

OK, I know most of you will be jealous, but I have to share. I got an iPod Touch for free from work. I was already an iPod addict to begin with, but this little device has put me over the edge. BTW, I also recently upgraded the features on it. I can now check and send email as well as use google maps. My only complaint about the device is that it just makes me want an iPhone that much more now. BTW, I’m actually typing this blog on it now. Many have complained about the keyboard, but I don’t seem to have many problems with it. All in all, this device is well worth the price tag and is a good alternative to the iPhone if you are like me, and still stuck in Verizon hell until your contract is up.

Audio Hijack Pro

August 22, 2007

Just purchased Audio Hijack Pro today.  I’m hoping to use it in upcoming episodes of TiPS.  My goal is to be able to record a Skype-based round table of discussions.  Keep your ears out for its uses!  I really think this is going to have a tremendous impact on the way that TiPS will be shaped from here on out.  I’m going to test it out tonight with my wife and daughter on a trial run.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

New Title

As you may have noticed, I’ve changed the title.  Since most of the stuff on this blog will deal with Technology, why wouldn’t I?

New iWork ‘08 Announced

August 8, 2007

Also today on the Apple announcement table, was the release of the new iWork ‘08 Suite. You can check out all the juicy details on this one here. I’ve been enjoying Keynote for a while now, and I haven’t touched Powerpoint since I started using it (I don’t think I’ll be switching back anytime soon, either.) The new Keynote has some nice “eye-candy” features, but basically looks the same.Pages, however, got a major facelift, and is now going head-to-head with Microsoft Word. Imagine Word, only easy, pretty, and fun…. that’s Pages.Added to the suite, is a new app called Numbers. This is going to kill Excel. Just looking at the demos makes me want to finally erase the scum (and by scum, I mean Microsoft) that’s been gumming up my Mac experience. See ya’ Office!

New iLife ‘08 in stores now!

August 8, 2007

Today, Apple announced that it would be selling its highly anticipated upgrade to the iLife suite. You can take a look at all the fine details here. My personal favorite upgrade has got to be iMovie. It has gotten a MAJOR facelift, and seems much easier to make clips of existing footage.

They have also changed the way you look at your pictures in iPhoto. They are moving to more of an “Apeture” way of organizing, in that you will group your photos into events. This makes the albums much easier to browse, and thereby making it easier to find that special photo you are looking for.

I am also looking forward to using the new .Mac Gallery feature. The thought of my mother being able to view our photos on the web, and add her own to them is making me want to bust out the digital camera right now and start shooting!

For $79, this is a no-brainer to buy. My wife (who always gets the fine job of telling me “no”) even said yes to buying this one. Maybe this means I’ll be one step closer to getting that iPhone I’ve been wanting. Hey, a man can dream, can’t he?!

Miss the old stuff?

July 31, 2007

Before I get everything moved over to this new space, you can access all the old stuff still here. Eventually, maybe I’ll merge the two somehow. If anyone knows an easy way to do this, please let me know.

del.icio.us

July 31, 2007

Have you used del.icio.us?  If not, I highly recommend it.  What is it, you ask?  It is basically an online place that you can keep all of your bookmarks.  I know, I know, there are plenty of other sites that do this as well, like portaportal.  But what sets del.icio.us apart, is it’s ability to “tag” your sites.  This lets you assign tags (or keywords) to each of your links so that it makes searching for them later a snap.  What’s even better, is that you can search other peoples’ bookmarks as well, and add them to your own.  For example, if you would like to see my bookmarks, go here.  You can add me to your Network, so that when I add a new bookmark, you’ll get it too!  Always better to let someone else do the hunting for you :)

First Time Using a Mac?

July 30, 2007

I was a Windows user since DOS until just 2 years ago, when I got my first Mac. I recently met someone who said she just didn’t get it. What was so special about Macs? Well, it’s just one of those things you have to experience for yourself. I can talk to you about it until I’m blue in the face, but until you get hands-on with a Mac, and use it for what YOU want to do, you really won’t understand what I mean. Here’s a great site to start for some more information:  My First Mac

My first time using WordPress

July 30, 2007

OK, visually, this looks very nice.  I think I’m going to like using WordPress.  I used Blogger for a long time, but a lot of people have recommended this one to me.  I can see why.  Seems easy, and definitely not as clunky as Blogger.  Looking forward to blogging often.
